The five chamber orchestra compositions available on record for the first time on this album confirm the creativity and vitality of the American musical imagination.

The diverse temperaments, technical and musical orientations found in these works paint vivid images of the eclecticism strongly manifested in today's musical landscape. Their impassioned melodies, sensitive harmonies and innovative rhythms challenge the technical and expressive possibilities of the featured instruments while providing performers with marvelous opportunities for technical as well as emotional display.

Four of the featured composers were born abroad -- China, Cuba, Greece, and México -- but reached artistic maturity upon moving to the United States. Surprisingly, the composer that was born in this country has been living and working in the alluring Mexican city of Puebla since 1996.

Great care was taken to preserve the integrity of the concert hall ambiance when this album was recorded and mastered. Indeed, the listener will find that the natural resonance of the concert hall and the music's wide dynamic range were captured successfully.
