About the music
This album presents a panoramic view of the most important stylistic trends in Mexican music during the past hundred years. The featured compositions range from examples of late 19th century romanticism and various representations of the nationalism manifested during the first half of the 20th century, to the innovations and experimentation identified with the post-modernism of the 1980's. Though contrasting in approach and aesthetic outlook, these works retain a recognizable Mexican quality nonetheless.
